VISION |
Generation Two creates intergenerational friendships and child advocacy partnerships that bridge across demographics. Generation Two friendships celebrate the value of bringing people with different abilities and knowledge together; a potent blend of innocence and wisdom. This civic engagement initiative strives to strengthen and advance the emotional and social skills that first grade children need to thrive inside and outside the school environment. Generation Two builds on early childhood emotional and social learning experiences based on child-centered play, includes all children in a classroom and harnesses the power of our senior citizens (the most experienced voters) and college students (the youngest voters). Generation Two volunteers come from urban, suburban and rural communities, and provide empathic and compassionate friendships to the youngest generation. Our emotional mentors also form an intergeneration leadership network. As child advocates they partner with the children and community organizations to communicate a common message to their community and government about health and education policies that benefit children.
